Listening to one of Paul Devro's mixes can be kind of intimidating; he has a way of reminding you that there's a whole world of music out there that you just don't know about. Sometimes he doesn't even know what he's playing. The DJ has been a professional crate-digger for years now: He's part of the creative team at Diplo's Mad Decent imprint, the non-profit Heap's Decent, and most recently he's worked with the Jefree's label, where he helps spotlight undiscovered, international production talent. With his latest mix for Mixpack FM, Devro showcases the wide scope of his finds. You'll find left-field Brazilian trap-music, the soca-funk stylings of Murlo, and a cover of Punjabi folk legend Surinder Kaur all in one go here. There's a handful of go-to bangers as well, including appearances by dancehall/reggae stalwarts Mr. Vegas and Busy Signal, Dutch house star DJ Chuckie, and a ghetto-tech cover of Outkast's "Elevators" (which is actually really awesome). And while he probes at about ten different genres of music (and just about as many languages) over the course of these fifty minutes, what we like most about this mix is that we haven't stopped dancing since we first hit "Play."
