Thanksgiving is about getting together with family and friends, endless hours of football, four-day weekends, and most importantly, stuffing your face. So for this holiday edition of Mix of the Week, we present to you this lovely modern soul mix that's essential for both for cooking with the family and the inevitable board games/food-comas that follow. DJ Black Jack's eighty-minute set is a collection of soul, funk and old-school R&B that starts out comfortably smooth, builds to an excitable peak of funk and boogie-laden foot-tappers, and then mellows into a soulful groove before closing with Don Blackman's cozy love anthem "Holding You." Other highlights include a rendition of Natural Four's "You Bring Out the Best In Me," the sexy, bedroom crooning of Marc Sadane on "One Way Love Affair," and R&B duo René & Angela's "Imaginary Playmates." As for the rest of the tracklist, you'll have to do some digging -- Big Jacks' has kept it a secret for now. All this means is that you'll have an excuse to quiz your parents on their good ol' days. Extra points if you can get them to dig up some of their old records for you while they're at it.
