With the release of "Mockingjay Part 2," the Capitol has finally fallen and Katniss Everdeen is free to live our her days in peace with her two babies and her dreamy bread-baking husband. But while the Girl On Fire must be relieved to have the rebellion behind her, for the movie-going audience who's been inspired by her for the past four years, it's been hard to say goodbye to the world of Panem.

Well, maybe we won't have to say goodbye just yet, because just like "Harry Potter" before, "The Hunger Games" might not be done as a franchise for very long. In fact, Lionsgate entertainment vice chairman Michael Burns thinks that Panem will "live on and on and on" beyond the scope of Katniss's rebellion.

THR reports that today (December 8) during an investor conference in New York City, Burns announced that he'd like to continue the series with a prequel set before the events of "The Hunger Games" -- and while there's no telling yet what such a movie would actually be about, he definitely think there's potential in returning to the actual Hunger Games themselves.

"The one thing that kids say they missed [from previous films] was there was no arenas," he said, referring to the treacherous arenas where the Hunger Games took place, and which didn't feature too prominently in either of the "Mockingjay" films. "If we went backwards there obviously would be arenas."

In addition, he reported that the studio hopes to create new movies for other big franchises in their roster like "The Expendables," "Saw" and "Twilight," which could take the form of prequels, sequels, spin-offs, or even reboots. Of course, Lionsgate's been promising new "Twilight" movies since "Breaking Dawn: Part 2" hit theaters back in 2012 -- and although the "Twilight Storytellers" mini-movies project was a resounding success that shone a spotlight on some amazing up-and-coming female filmmakers, we have yet to see a feature-length "Twilight" film get greenlit.

Still, now that "Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them" is currently paving the way in continuing successful movie franchises, odds are that more "Twilight" and "Hunger Games" movies can't actually be that far behind. And with "The Hunger Games" in particular, there are plenty of complex characters and decades of pre-Katniss history to explore in Panem, so there are a lot of opportunities for new stories to tell.
