Wale seems to be having a tough time getting some of his rap peers on the phone recently.
In October, the DMV native said, during an interview, that he hadn't been able to reach Meek Mill since the Philly rapper's feud with Drake erupted over the summer. Then, on Monday (Dec. 7), Folarin said that Kendrick Lamar hasn't answered his calls in two years.
"You & Kendrick should tour," a fan tweeted at the rapper. "You both are equally into live music, instruments & both have different style & content. I'd go."
But that doesn't seem likely, based on Wale's response: "[He] ain't answered that phone since the last nomination . I get the Demi lavato treatment from him now. It's hard out here."
Following that tweet, this afternoon, K. Dot's Black Hippy brethren, Jay Rock, caught wind of the comment and responded. "I SEE WHY U NOT MMG. SMH," he wrote, referencing a claim that Meek had made following the interview where Wale said he hadn't been able to get in touch with him (he also said in that interview that Meek brought a "pencil to a gun fight," in reference to the Drake battle).
Wale's assertion came during a series of tweets about the announcement of the 2016 Grammy nominations, which left the rapper and his The Album About Nothing, as well as his singles, off the list. Kendrick, meanwhile, scored 11 nominations.
Now that we've had the airing of grievances, let's hope these two can get on the phone, connect in person and maybe even make some music together.
