Oscar-Schmoscar. Golden Globes-Schmolden...Globes? Whatever cutesy way you want to put it, the "traditional" awards shows have passed, but the summer is bringing some ceremonies that hit a little closer to home (or at least our hearts): The Teen Choice Awards are upon us! The nominations are out, which means it's time to get your vote on and push your favorites to victory—especially if they were snubbed at previous awards shows (*cough* HarryPotter *cough*).
"Eclipse" shockingly leads the nominations with 12 (including multiple noms in some cases, like Choice Actor: Sci-Fi/Fantasy). Close behind are other obvious faves like "Glee," "The Vampire Diaries" and Taylor Swift.
Let's take a look at some of the most crush-worthy face-offs:
"Eclipse" vs. "Harry Potter"...again
In the Sci-Fi/Fantasy/book-to-movie/romance category, "Twilight" and "Harry Potter" continue their supernatural standoff for best franchise. "HP" was snubbed pretty hard in favor of the Forks crew at the MTV Movie Awards, but maybe wizards will beat vampires this time? History kind of suggests not...
The Many Kisses of KStew
Once again, Kristen Stewart is up against herself in the favorite kiss category. The odds of anyone else (even girl-on-girl Natalie and Mila action from "Black Swan") stealing this win seem low, but will fans prefer the sexier embrace of Kristen and Taylor to the sweet kisses that won her and Rob the Golden Popcorn earlier this month?
Not to let "Twilight" have all the supernatural thunder, there are three strong contenders for Choice TV Show: Sci-Fi/Fantasy award. We love "The Vampire Diaries" and mainstay "Supernatural" is never a bad choice (Oh, Jensen), but will newcomer "Teen Wolf" steal the show?
After tons of primetime noms in the other categories, something about the Choice TV Actress: Comedy category might catch your eye: "The Big Bang Theory"'s Kaley Cuoco is the only primetime player in the nomination field. Everyone else comes from the world of Disney and Nickelodeon—Miranda Cosgrove, Miley Cyrus, Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato were all nominated. Talk about tough choices!
The Choice Music: Female Artist category is predictably bloated with talent (Katy Perry, Rihanna, Taylor Swift...does it end?), but the Choice Music: Group category has some pretty interesting contenders. For example, the "Glee" cast made the cut as a group and Selena was nominated here thanks to her backing band The Scene. Still, can these creative noms beat out established groups like The Black Eyed Peas?
