Did This 'Legends Of Tomorrow' Trailer Just Reveal Batman And Superman's Fates?

If so, the future isn't looking too bright for Kal-El and the Caped Crusader.

The first trailer for "DC's Legends of Tomorrow" -- the CW's newest superhero series centered around the time-traveling rogue Rip Hunter (Arthur Darvill) and his cobbled-together team of good and bad guys who mean to stop the apocalypse -- is here.

And guess what? The show will finally give a nod to Batman and Superman -- a teensy weensy one, mind you, but a reference nonetheless. AND it's a kinda spoilerific one at that.

In the trailer, the issue of the team's time-tinkering techniques comes to a head when Rip scolds, "If only you'd have listened to me about the dangers of upsetting the timeline!"

As we see Dr. Martin Stein (Victor Garber)'s wedding ring disappear and the "Flash"/"Arrow" crossover squad (including Brandon Routh as Ray Palmer and Franz Drameh as Jax) laying flowers on a gloomy grave, Rip voice chimes in with a potential spoiler drop as to the fate of the "Justice League's" central stars, and it doesn't sound like anything good'll be dawning for these two on this show.

"I've seen Men of Steel die and Dark Knights fall. Your entire 21st century world will suffer," says the voice.

Certainly sounds like the two aren't dying of old age by that descriptor.

Of course, the story in "Legends" takes place in 2166, so this could be a simple look-back moment meant to give a much-needed homage to Superman and Batman's presence within the DC Universe, even as it exists on The CW, and if so it certainly made these viewers-to-be pretty happy.

There's also the very slight possibility that this is a tongue-in-cheek jab at Brandon Routh's non-starter "Superman Returns." But probably not. 'Cause that would be mean.

"Legends of Tomorrow" will debut on The CW Thursday, Jan. 21, 2016.
