If this decade's fashions have taught us anything, it’s that socks can make an outfit. The underrated accessory finally had its street-style moment last year after dominating the runway in 2012 (Prada, Bottega Veneta, Victoria Beckham, Michael Kors—the list goes on) and being championed by Rihanna back in 2010. Now, thanks to Santigold, the accessory’s cool stock just went up again.

The pop singer teamed up with Stance on a covetable line of socks that are anything but an afterthought. First up is the Brooklyn Go Hard sock, named after her smash hit with Jay Z, and covered with sketches of the borough's landmarks made by artist Thom Lessner. In the collection's lookbook, Santigold rocks them with Adidas shower slides and high-top sneakers that hit just low enough to show off the Brooklyn trim.

For those who favor flashier socks, Gold Links is just about the most opulent pair of socks on the market. We could see Migos rocking this pair, with its Versace-reminiscent palette of gold, teal, and black, and baroque borders. According to the lookbook, the socks are “inspired by her love of all things Gold, and her belief that every outfit needs a bit of bling.”

The bright blue and red Kilimanjaro design has the greatest message of all, though. For this sock, Santigold took inspiration from a trip to Tanzania where she hiked Kilimanjaro alongside artists and activists as part of “Summit on the Summit,” helping to create awareness for the global clean water crisis. The design takes cues from the Masai tribe’s striped garb, which informed the removable beaded patch the socks come with. Even better, 20% of the sale of this style goes toward Charity: Water, a non-profit that brings clean and safe water to developing nations.
The collection hits Stance’s site and Opening Ceremony and Nordstrom’s shelves February 19.
