Alessia Cara Lends Her Magic Touch To Justin Bieber’s ‘Love Yourself’

JB would be proud of his fellow Canadian cover queen.

Despite recently releasing her stellar debut album, Alessia Cara has returned to her cover star roots for one hell of a feel-good jam.

The 19-year-old dropped Know It All on Friday, Nov. 13, the same day as Justin Bieber’s new album, Purpose. But to prove there’s no rivalrous feelings about the competitive release date, Cara shared her own acoustic take on Bieber’s “Love Yourself,” a song she said she “just learned like three seconds ago.”

In a simple bedroom setup, Cara lends her quivering vocal flourishes and guitar skills to the Ed Sheeran-penned tune, nailing the “da da da” breakdown and even sharing some hilarious outtakes at the end (note: she definitely believes in ghosts).

Between this new cover and her past renditions of Taylor Swift’s “Bad Blood,” Drake’s “Hotline Bling” and Nick Jonas’ “Levels,” we think it’s pretty safe to crown Cara the Cover Queen.

But just for comparison’s sake, here’s Bieber’s most recent rendition of “Love Yourself,” performed on “The Ellen Degeneres Show” on Monday (Nov. 16).
