Watch Alanis Morissette Update ‘Ironic’ For The Snapchat Generation

'It's like swiping left / On your future soulmate'

Last week, Alanis Morissette dusted off her always-fun 1995 hit "Ironic" to literally cluck out the melody with Meghan Trainor and Jimmy Fallon. It was kitschy and oddly very fitting given the song's sudden musical turns.

Well, apparently Alanis hasn't had enough. On Monday night, she popped by "The Late Late Show" to duet "Ironic" with James Corden, and she actually sang it this time -- with some very important cultural updates.

"An old friend sends you a Facebook request / You only find out they're racist after you accept," Alanis begins in earnest under a big red winter cap (like she did in the song's OG music vid). Soon, James joins her in the same outfit (because obviously) to complete the thought: "There's free office cake on the first day of your diet / It's like they announce a new iPhone the day after you buy it."

But since this is 2015, cruel irony tends to take shape via Tinder swipes, Snapchats and tweets, and as such, the two Alanises address it:

Though to be fair, Twitter just ditched faves in favor of likes, so this line doesn't really work... or maybe it does. Maybe it's ironic. Maybe remaking "Ironic" via outdated references is actually the most ironic thing you can do in 2015.

"It’s singing 'Ironic,' but there are no ironies," Alanis #1 sings near the end. She gets it.

She also stuck around to chat about her how classic album Jagged Little Pill was nearly robbed from her at gunpoint, while LL Cool J listens on. Watch it un-ironically below.
