That's precisely what the singer/actress did during her recent interview with Details, where she talked about meeting Slim for the first time. That went kind of how I'd imagine it'd go for any of us if we tried talking to Shady.
"I walked up to him the first time I saw him. I think he was sitting," the "Orange Is The New Black" star said. "When I approached him, I was like, 'Hey, I’m playing Janeane.' And out of nowhere, three huge bodyguards surrounded him. They thought maybe I was a fan who had gotten loose on the set. I was like, 'I am so sorry. I am playing Janeane in the film.' And they were like: 'Oh, okay.' And they sort of parted the seas and let him speak to me."
Despite that initial scare, Manning said she got to know Eminem once they started shooting and she found out what fans already knew about his sense of humor. "He’s hilarious," she said. "He is always cracking jokes and a real goofball. I had a great connection with him, and he added one of our Boomkat songs ['Wastin’ My Time'] to the '8 Mile' soundtrack."
Manning also connected with another giant music star -- Britney Spears -- when she acted alongside her in "Crossroads."
"I have never experienced anything like that in my life," Manning said of the film. "We were shooting in Louisiana, and literally no matter where you looked on set—there were fans everywhere: Screaming little girls with their mothers."
But just like with Slim, it seems Manning made a connection with Brit too. "I learned so much from her," Manning added. "And she is such a sweetheart. That’s one thing I will never forget about her: a very sweet, gentle human being—the person I was around. For two months."
Interesting that Taryn brought up Eminem and Britney Spears, because we recently unearthed a video of Eminem dressing up as Britney Spears for one of his videos, and we'll take any opportunity to share it again.
