Lana Del Rey Explains How She Got Her Name (VIDEO)

Once upon a time, Lana Del Rey was just lil' old Lizzie Grant from Lake Placid, N.Y. But no one could become the Indie Queen of the Internet with a crappy name like that! (Just kidding, we kind of think Lizzie Grant sounds famous on its own, don't you?) Lizzie took a cue from some of the world's most famous musicians (David Bowie, Prince, Lady Gaga) and got herself a shiny new stage name. Seems like it's working out for her so far.

We recently caught up with Del Rey when she stopped by MTV and opened up about the babysitting gig she still keeps and her least favorite video game, World Of Warcraft. (We ask the hard-hitting questions.) We also got a chance to ask Lizzie what inspired her to choose "Lana Del Rey" and how it's shaped the music she makes. "I knew that I wanted a name that sounded sort of exotic and reminded me of the seaside on the Floridian coast. 'Lana Del Rey' sounded beautiful."

You can tell Lana Del Rey is like, cultured and stuff. If I had to pick a beautiful stage name, I'd probably select "Kate Bosworth Sunset" or "Minka Kelly Tulip." Can't you just combine two things that are pretty?
