An Artist Is Unmasking Famous Cartoon Characters And Revealing Their Shocking Identities

#IconsUnmasked

Have you ever wondered if cartoons were just characters in costumes, hiding something underneath their masks? Artist Alex Solis, a designer at Threadless, created a unique series called #IconsUnmasked that reimagines some of your favorite cartoon characters with very different identities.

Solis takes two separate entities and combines them -- and after you see the two characters juxtaposed together, the result actually makes perfect sense.

For starters, Batman is obviously an actual bat incognito.

Which then makes Robin — you guessed it — an actual robin.

Barney the Dinosaur is clearly just Barney Rubble from "The Flintstones."

And Grumpy Cat is actually Garfield.

E.T. is obviously the creature from the "Alien" franchise in disguise.

Somebody tell Ripley she has nothing to fear!

While The Flash is actually Sonic the Hedgehog.

Darth Vader is simply Plankton from "SpongeBob SquarePants."

The Incredible Hulk is an oversized Angry Bird, because duh.

And Sadness from "Inside Out" is actually the one and only Eeyore, which explains so much.
