Diddy is reportedly the richest man in rap.
The mogul topped Forbes’ Cash Kings list this year earning about $60 million. His work with Revolt, Sean John, Aquahydrate and Ciroc are all part of Sean Combs’ empire.
Jay Z followed Diddy with approximately $56 million. He earned that paper through his dealings with Roc Nation, Amand de Brignac and, of course, his tour with Beyoncé.
Drake made this year’s Top 3 with around $39.5 million. This is the best finish Drizzy’s had in his career thanks to his 50 tour dates, contracts with Sprite and Nike and the release of If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late. That’s likely not even counting What A Time To Be Alive.
Dr. Dre landed the #4 spot on the list. While he made $620 million last year, his ranking is due to $33 million earned this year thanks to his work with Apple, on “Straight Outta Compton” and with his own Compton LP.
Pharrell ($32 million) rounded out the Top 5.
So, how is this list compiled? “We consider pretax income from touring, record sales, streaming, publishing, merchandise sales, endorsements and other business ventures,” Forbes said. “Management, agent and attorney fees are not deducted. Earnings are calculated from June 2014 to June 2015.”
Last year’s Top 5 were Dr. Dre, Jay Z, Diddy, Drake and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis. What a difference a year makes.
