Eddie Redmayne's Trans Transformation In First 'Danish Girl' Trailer Will Bring You To Tears

Redmayne's next role might be his most monumental yet.

The first trailer for Tom Hooper's "The Danish Girl" has been released -- and it's stunning.

The film, starring Oscar winner Eddie Redmayne as pioneering transgender artist Lili Elbe, is based on David Ebershoff's historical account of Lili's ground-breaking transition in the late 1920s with the love and support of her wife Gerda (played by Alicia Vikander). Visually, the film is stunning, but more importantly, its message of courage and acceptance is what already has us in tears.

At a time when transgender acceptance is at the forefront of our culture, "The Danish Girl" is taking it all back to the beginning, detailing Lili's journey to become her true self and the adversity she faced along the way.

In other words, bring lots of tissues to this one, folks.

"The Danish Girl" hits theaters on Friday, November 27.
