Find Out Which ‘Insurgent’ Star Is Racing To ‘The Flash’ As Wally West

The iconic speedster is officially joining Season Two.

The Flash” has thrown another famous speedster into the mix — yep, Wally West is finally coming to Central City!

Australian actor Keiynan Lonsdale has been tapped to join the CW show this winter as Wally West, who goes on to become the speedster Kid Flash.

Lonsdale, 23, got his break starring in the Australian TV series “Dance Academy,” and last appeared as Uriah in “Insurgent,” the second chapter of the “Divergent” series. He’s set to reprise the role in “Allegiant: Part 1,” which hits theaters next year.

The actor tweeted his excitement about the big reveal this afternoon (Aug. 5), saying he’s a big fan of the show.

His soon-to-be “Flash” costars quickly sent out their congratulations, including Danielle Panabaker (Caitlin Snow), Candice Patton (Iris West), and fellow speedster Grant Gustin (Barry Allen/The Flash).

The show’s executive producer Andrew Kreisberg said in a statement, “Just like when we met Grant for the first time, we instantly knew Keinyan embodied all the heart and courage of a hero. We are so excited to be bringing this much-beloved character onto the show.”

In the comics, Wally is the nephew of Barry Allen’s love interest Iris West. He eventually winds up joining Barry as a younger sidekick, Kid Flash, and later inherits Barry’s mantle as the full-fledged Flash. Whether or not the show keeps that storyline intact remains to be seen, but Lonsdale HAS been named a series regular, so it’s safe to say we’ll be seeing a lot of him when “The Flash” returns for its second season on Oct. 6.
