8 Reasons We NEED A 'Friends' Spin-Off
In case you haven't already noticed, we are living in an era of throwback TV spin-offs. "Girl Meets World" gave new life to the Matthews family by way of Cory and Topanga's daughter; "Fuller House" is reuniting almost the entire cast (c'moooooon, Olsen Twins); and now there's talk of a "Married With Children" spin-off headed up by Bud Bundy himself.
There are plenty more examples, but you get the idea. Archived TV renewals are happening all over the place right now, and while we know the deal when it comes to the "Friends" cast not wanting to do a straight up reunion project -- though we're still so in favor of that idea, of course -- we have to wonder, why not do a spin-off centered around the kids?
If we're thinking in real-time Ben is now 19 years old, Phoebe's triplets (Frank Jr., Leslie and Chandler) are 15, Emma's 12, and the Bing twins (Jack and Erika) are 10. Basically, the kiddos cover the entire spectrum of pre-teen to teen adolescence, so there's a ton of potential here.
Not to mention, each of these kids has an interesting history to explore -- the triplets were birthed by their aunt, Ben has two moms, the twins were adopted, and Emma ... well, Emma's background is actually pretty ordinary, but still. Lots of material already written into the group. And now that "The Suite Life of Zack and Cody" is done, the kid who played Ben is available so ...
We also have a few questions that we'd love such a spin-off to address.
Did Emma ever watch her 1st birthday tape? (Or better yet, did she ever accidentally find her conception tape???)
Did Ben ever make amends with Sting’s son?
Did Owen ever babysit for Monica and Chandler and reveal that they too were adopted?
Did Joey stay friends with McKenzie (Dakota Fanning) and her bear?
Does Frank Jr. Jr. grow up to resent his name?
How many times did Ross take his kids to see “Jurassic World”?
Did Ross teach his kids about Science Boy?
Does Emma still like "Baby Got Back"?
WE NEED TO KNOW. Also, it's worth noting that we are so not alone here. There are plenty of other people who see the potential in all those kiddos lingering around the fictional world unknown.
So, let's get the ball rolling on this, team, and make up for the womp womp that was "Joey" (even if some of us -- cough -- didn't even hate on that show, either).
