Last year, Lifetime announced to the world it will be adapting Jean M. Auel's popular book series "Earth's Children" for an upcoming TV pilot. It appears to be called "Clan Of The Cave Bear," which is the title of the first book in the six-book series.
The plot takes place over 25,000 years ago, involving a young girl who, after the death of her family, joins a group of cave dwellers in order to survive. However, she has to deal with the obvious differences between her, an early modern human, and Neanderthals.
Earlier today (July 18), Ron Howard, one of the show's executive producers, shared this photo on Twitter.
Holy crap, that thing is HUGE! Imagine trying to deal with those giants on a daily basis? No, thank you.
After sharing the photo, fans excitingly assumed this pilot will be a remake of the 1986 version "The Clan Of The Cave Bear," starring a pre-"Kill Bill" Daryl Hannah. Alas, Howard was quick to point out it's going to be a series, not a film.
This makes us wonder what the differences will be between the two adaptations, not to mention the books. One thing is for certain though -- if Ron Howard's attached to the project, it's going to be a good one.
The star of the pilot, Millie Brady, shared this cast photo recently. There's not a release date yet for the pilot, but it's looking like a late 2015 or early 2016 premiere.
