After five "Terminator" films, we've seen all kinds of mechanical murderers and bruisers work their way through the past, present and future in an attempt to kill the Connors and crush humanity. Some of these cybernetic lifeforms have been more benevolent than others. Some actually have mankind's best interests at heart. For the most part, though, we're talking about some seriously messed up machines with literal chips on their shoulders, or at least where their brains would be.

It's hard for you and I to relate to these Terminators — we identify with the Sarah Connors and Kyle Reeses of the world — but maybe we have something in common with these killer cyborgs after all.
