'Furious 7' Speeds Toward Yet Another Record

Is "Jurassic World" next?

Gentlemen, start your engines. Scratch that: they started months ago.

Box office giant "Furious 7" refuses to hit the brakes on global earnings, zooming past "Marvel's The Avengers" for an all-time record. The seventh installment of the "Fast and Furious" franchise now occupies the third slot in the worldwide, all-time gross record list, having raked in $1.52 billion since its April release. Only "Avatar" and "Titanic" have made more money.

Fellow new release "Jurassic World" is also quickly climbing the list. Currently at number 22 on the record holders list, the new "Jurassic Park" entry is just over a million dollars short of crossing that billion dollar threshold. It's safe to say that the Chris Pratt actioner is not going extinct any time soon.

There's still plenty of summer left, and "Jurassic" has a lot of time left in its theatrical run -- in the battle of car vs. dino, who will prevail?
