Fetty Wap Says He Can't Recite Jay Z Or Nas Lyrics

But he is a big Gucci Mane fan.

Fetty Wap has proven he can make hit records with "Trap Queen" and "My Way." Just don't expect him to recite lyrics to cuts by Jay Z or Nas.

"I didn’t listen to no up north rappers," he said in an interview with New York's Power 105.1 that was published Wednesday (Jun. 17). "I didn’t listen to nobody. My cousins up here…They listen to Jay Z. Of course I know who Jay Z is or Nas. But if you ask me can you recite [their lyrics]? I can’t recite them."

This doesn't mean Fetty - who's only been rapping for two years - doesn't like Jigga or Nasty. In fact, he said he's a fan of Hov's Blueprint album and Nas' "One Mic" track.

While some may knock Wap for this declaration, the MC/singer is used to the jabs about his musical taste.

"Some people criticize me for that," he said. "Most of my family from the South. So, once school’s out, we go down South. Whenever I go down, my cousins listen to Gucci Mane, Young Jeezy, Lil Boosie, Slim Thug...Project Pat, Three 6 Mafia, Juicy J."

And Wap gravitated towards one artist in particular when he was coming up, Gucci Mane. Fortunately for the "Trap Queen" singer, he's already done a song with Guwop. The cut - "Still Selling Dope" - appears on Mane's King Gucci mixtape.

And even though Fetty might not be able to recite all their lyrics, something tells us a Nas, Jay, Fetty collab would be pretty dope.
