Police Clash With Fans Outside Of Hot 97's Summer Jam Concert

Meek Mill, Nicki Minaj and Big Sean thrilled fans inside the venue.

EAST RUTHERFORD, New Jersey -- While hip-hop fans inside of MetLife Stadium were partying to the sounds of Chris Brown, Meek Mill and Nicki Minaj on Sunday night, fans outside of the venue were clashing with police.

All of the drama took place outside the gates of Hot 97's Summer Jam concert, an annual event that draws the biggest names in hip-hop and R&B. New Jersey State Police told CNN.com that things started to go wrong when security at one of the stadium's entrance gates were faced with people trying to illegally enter the concert by climbing over fences and forcing their way through security personnel.

Hot 97 personality and former program director Ebro Darden posted several tweets that addressed the drama.

According to local New York news outlet Eyewitness News on WABC, several arrests were made and police have confirmed that they used tear gas on the crowd.

It is also being reported that because of the incident, several legitimate ticket-holders were not allowed inside. For those fans, Hot 97 is offering refunds.
