Should Max FINALLY Tell Taylor That He Hooked Up With 'Carter'?

He only came thisclose about a hundred times.

In his acclaimed novel "Anna Karenina," Leo Tolstoy famously wrote that "anything is better than lies and deceit." But tbh, we've always been partial to the saying "what you don't know can't hurt you."

On tonight's "Finding Carter," Max and Carter weighed both concepts with a whole lotta difficulty: After the two hooked up in the back of his truck, they spent an entire weekend deciding if they should tell Taylor about the tryst.

"I want to be honest with her, but at the same time I don't know if it's worth how much it might hurt her," Max said.

But Carter disagreed. "The longer we wait, the worse it's going to be," she insisted.

So the two came up with a plan: Break it to Tay during a weekend getaway at Gammy's cabin, where Bird, Madison, Gabe and new guy Damon would join them. But over the course of the weekend, not everyone agreed that Taylor really, truly needed the 411.

"Sometimes you have to lie to protect people," Madison offered.

And naaaturally, free-spirited Bird didn't think the hookup was a big deal. "Max and Taylor were already broken up," she reasoned. "And it's not like something Max and Carter never did before."

The guys weighed in too. "Taylor deserves to know," Gabe said. "Lies suck, and they always come out. I don't want her hurt."

"I agree, but telling her will also hurt," replied Damon, who later revealed a smokin' hot bathing-suit bod at the lake (random, but totally worth mentioning).

Later that night, Max got yet another reason to keep his trap shut -- and this time, it came from Taylor herself. As the two sat outside, the once-meek twin explained her brief affair with Ofe (yeah, he was a total rebound), then turned the tables on Max.

"I've been honest with you -- it's your turn," she said. "Did you sleep with...Bird?"

Weeell, not quite, sister. When Max said no, she breathed a sigh of relief.

"If you had slept with her, I'd be upset," Tay admitted. "You know how I am. You know how long it took me to forgive Crash. I have some things to work on -- trust issues or something."

And with that, Max's thought bubble immediately turned to this.

That's right -- the long-locked Romeo kept his lip zipped yet again, and it seemed like he might keep it that way. That is, until the episode's very last moment: As the group began packing their cars to leave Gammy's, Taylor came across something very interesting in the back of Max's flatbed: a piece of her sister's jewelry. #busted

"What is Carter's necklace doing in here?" she asked. AND SCENE!

So it looks like the jig is up, and Max may be poised to reveal his secret after all. But should he? Like Madison and Damon said, the truth can hurt -- and it'll surely cause Taylor hella heartbreak. Plus, Tay herself admitted that she has trust issues, and wouldn't the revelation just deepen them? On the other hand, Gabe and Carter have good points: lies DO suck (TLC flashback!), and it'll only be worse if the truth comes out and an angry Tay forces Max to take a bow (Rihanna flashback!).

Frankly, we don't know where to stand on this one, so we're leaving it up to you. Do YOU think Max should admit his indiscretion? Take our poll, then sound off in the comments. And be sure to watch next week's "FC" Tuesday at 10/9c!
