You can take the girl out of "The City," but you can't take the city out of the girl.

Whitney Port, who moved back to her hometown of Los Angeles since the MTV show wrapped in 2010, has nevertheless kept the Big Apple in her heart and frequently travels back and forth for business. And since she's still quite taken with the space's sights, sounds and...Instagram-worthy backdrops...she published the guide to a Whitney Port-approved Manhattan on her blog. First things first: the makings of a perfect girls' night!

For livelier sundown activities, Whit endorses dinner at Joe's Shanghai or Tortilla Flats followed by dancing at the Jane Hotel. Alternatively, if you're in the mood for a lower-key evening, the Lobby at the Bowery Hotel or the Brandy Library are musts. Either way, keep your eyes and ears open between venues for prime people-watching opportunities.

"The entire city of New York is like one grand people-watching experiment," according to the post. "I wouldn't even know where to begin. Just leave wherever you're staying, and look around."

For great views, Whit recommends a trip to 1 World Trade ("On a good day, we have crystal clear views of Brooklyn, the Statue of Liberty, the Hudson River, the East River, the Empire State Building, and beyond"), but points to Terminal 5 and Bowery Ballroom for satisfactory ear candy. And, should you be so lucky as to find love in Manhattan, there's a particular spot that the fashion designer champions.

"Il Cantinori will always be my romantic neighborhood favorite," Whit says. "Cozy setting, delicious wines and beautiful flowers — which, for whatever reason, go a long way with me."
