There are many reasons why you might want to listen to a live stream of Shia LaBeouf's heart beating. Like art.
End of list.
Thankfully, the 28-year-old actor has obliged us with exactly that opportunity with his latest art-world endeavor: "Follow My Heart."
The project, in collaboration with #IAmSorry collaborators Nastja Säde Rönkkö and Luke Turner, allows the curious to listen to Shia's heart as it beats live.
As LaBeouf explained at a SXSW panel Monday (Mar. 16):
"Every time my heart rate goes up, I'll stop, breathe and focus on getting my heartrate lower numerically. I've had panic attacks throughout most of my life, whether it's at work or whether I've been drinking heavy. I haven't had that for a while, and this is a constant reminder to stay at a constant numerical place to find peace."
It's so wonderful to hear that he's benefitting from the project -- just as the project benefits us, as a people. Now if you'll excuse me, I have a live stream of Shia LaBeouf's heart beating to listen to.
