4 Things The New Hellboy Beer Could Taste Like
It's a very special birthday this year for our favorite horned bro from the bowels of Hell.
Although most of us know Hellboy in his onscreen incarnation -- as a hard-drinking, grizzled, grown-ass adult demon -- it was in 1994 that Mike Mignola created the character, which makes this year Hellboy's twenty-first on the planet.
And like any red-blooded (and bodied) American male, the son of the Fallen One is going to celebrate his birthday with a beer: Specifically, a limited-edition red ale called The Right Hand of Doom, created just for the occasion by Portland's Rogue brewery.
There's just one obvious question: What will Hellboy's personal brew taste like?
So far, only Entertainment Weekly (who broke the story) has weighed in, and only to predict that it won't taste like Hellboy. (In case you're wondering, an internet search for "What does Hellboy taste like" yields zero results. My educated guess: Hot sauce.) But based on evidence from the films, we've rounded up a few flavor-related predictions of our own.
It's a smoky brew.
Cigar smoke, gun smoke, smoke rising from the charred flesh of your enemies: all combine to create a flavor profile that's authentically Hellboy!
It'll have a subtle cat food flavor.
For the demon who loves cats so much that he's always wanted to share a beer with one.
It will taste like Hell.
Literally.
Or perhaps the flavor doesn't matter; what matters is, it'll get you drunk.
Because let's be real, the true test of a Hellboy-inspired beer is whether or not it'll get you wasted enough to do an absolutely stellar rendition of "Can't Smile Without You" alongside your equally-drunk best friend.
