Is Lil Wayne Already At Work On His Next Mixtape?

He's dedicated.

Lil Wayne just dropped his new mixtape, Sorry 4 the Wait 2, last month. And that whole project stemmed from the fact that he's already got his new album, Tha Carter V, finished and ready to go -- but because of problems with his label, the release has been delayed.

But it looks like Tunechi might already be at work on another project.

Early Monday morning (Feb. 2), DJ Drama posted a picture on Instagram with a caption that hinted at him and Weezy again joining forces for a mixtape. "Sorry For The Wait 2. Carter V. Dedication 6," Dram wrote in a caption of a photo of him, Wayne and Mack Maine.

As the title suggests, the upcoming Dedication would be the sixth in their series, which started in 2005; the second installment is widely viewed as a classic mixtape.

When Dedication 6 arrives may have to do with how soon Lil Wayne can sort out his differences with his label, Cash Money -- and, thus, how soon Tha Carter V will arrive.

Last week, Wayne filed suit against Cash Money, seeking a total of $51 million dollars, and alleging he hasn't been paid for much of his recent work -- including finishing and turning in Tha Carter V, for which his contract says he's owed $10 million.

Suddenly, what the rapper told MTV News last year about the chances of a post-CV album doesn't sound all that ridiculous.

“25 to 35 million [dollars] would get me to do another solo album after this,” he said. “I didn’t smile when I said it.”
