The 'Hannibal' Season 3 Teaser Looks Delicious

Hello, Doctor Lecter.

There's a long wait yet before we'll get a chance to sit down to dinner with "Hannibal" again, but consider this a snack to tide you over until the main event. The NBC series has released a peek at its third season, and it looks as dark, gorgeous, and promisingly gruesome as one of its patented Will Graham fever dreams.

Among the highlights of this teaser: A peek at Tao Okamoto in her role as the mysterious Lady Murasaki; a body bag that may or may not contain the remains of either Alana Bloom or Jack Crawford; and a bromantic, candelit catacomb confrontation between Will Graham (Hugh Dancy) and Hannibal (Mads Mikkelsen).

Also, we get two glimpses of Gillian Anderson as the perfectly-coifed Bedelia du Maurier, who was last seen sitting next to Doctor Lecter on a first-class flight to who-knows where, and who apparently survived the trip without becoming her companion's in-flight meal. Well-played, Bedelia!

Hannibal himself is looking longer-haired and scruffier than he was in the last season -- he's even wearing a leather jacket, in contrast to his usual tailored suits -- but there's also a shot of the doctor mingling in polite society and sitting pretty in some kind of grand new office space, so we're guessing it won't be long before he dusts off his recipe box, sharpens his knives, and starts having some good friends for dinner again.

Meanwhile, the one thing this teaser doesn't do is answer our burning questions about who survived the bloodbath of last season's finale; of the three series regulars who wound up on the business end of one of Lecter's kitchen knives in the last episode, only Will Graham (who we already knew would survive) is obviously alive and well.

As for Jack and Alana, we're guessing that one of them survived, but we won't know until the premiere who made it. In the meantime, we can be comforted by the fact that at least neither one of them ended up in Hannibal Lecter's stomach.

"Hannibal" returns this summer.
