J.J. Abrams Is Just As Terrified About ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ As You Are

"The opportunity, I think, is greater than the fear."

With reporting by Josh Horowitz.

It seems like just yesterday J.J. Abrams tried to #BreaktheInternet with the release of the first "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" trailer. But no, it really has been over a month since we saw the Millennium Falcon in flight. And if you’re at all human — and not some kind of droid — you’re probably dying for new footage. Don’t worry, J.J. Abrams hears your cries, and they’re kind of terrifying him.

Speaking with MTV News on the National Board of Review red carpet, Abrams opened up about bringing the beloved "Star Wars" franchise back to life with "Episode VII."

"It is, without question, an intense and terrifying prospect," Abrams said. "The opportunity, I think, is greater than the fear, greater than the risk. I’m more excited about the work that everyone has done in the movie and the incredible cast."

That incredible cast includes Oscar Isaac (Poe Dameron), Daisy Ridley (Rey), Adam Driver (Kylo Ren, maybe?), John Boyega (Finn), and the cutest droid this side of the ‘verse, BB-8.

"Star Wars: The Force Awakens" hits theaters on December 18, 2015, which will hereby be known as the most terrifying day of J.J. Abrams’ life.
