Still No Cause Of Death For A$AP Yams, But New Details Emerge

A thorough autopsy is expected in the coming weeks.

The cause of death for A$AP Yams is still unknown, but a few new details surrounding the A$AP Mob founder's passing are surfacing.

Yams, born Steven Rodriguez, was found by his roommate laying down unconscious on Sunday morning, according to The Fader. Police responded to the scene, and Yams was taken to Woodhull Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York. It was at the hospital where he was pronounced dead. His body was taken the Brooklyn Office of Chief Medical Examiner, and, on Tuesday, identified.

An initial examination was performed on the body, and results of an autopsy should be available in a few weeks, according to the report.

As news spread of the 26-year-old's death over the weekend, many speculated that it was related to drug or codeine use. However, A$AP Ant, a fellow Mob member, told DJ Vlad that Yams did not overdose.

“I just want to clear it up for real, for real,” he said. “It ain’t no overdose. People stop saying overdose, ’cause that’s not what it is. It’s not an overdose. People keep talking about he overdosed off Xanax and sh-t like that or whatever and lean — no. That’s not what happened.”
