This Dad Dressed His Son Up As Iron Man To 'Feel Brave' In The Hospital

Although Halloween was almost two weeks ago, Collier Hart’s cosplay is a must-see late entry for the best costume award.

Collier, a newborn who’s been hospitalized since his premature birth in July, doesn’t know much about being a superhero, but as the ghoulish holiday approached, his father, Eric, wanted to help his sick son “feel brave” in spite of the emotionally draining months he’s spent in a hospital's neonatal intensive care unit.

So, he built his brave little fighter an Iron Man costume.

“I came up with Iron Man because he’s been hooked up to all those machines and wires and that’s similar to what Iron Man went through,” Hart told TODAY. “We thought we’d dress him up and take some pictures for the grandparents, the family and some friends. I figured I’d put the little mask on top of him just long enough to take a picture.”

Eric found a paper pattern of the Marvel character online and assembled it—scaled down to baby size, of course. Next, he transferred the pattern to foam and hot-glued the pieces together.

Collier only wore the costume for a minute, but the memory will last a lifetime.
