It Was *ThisClose* But 5SOS Defeated Fifth Harmony To Win Artist On The Rise EMA!
If you're still sleeping on 5 Seconds Of Summer, it's time to WAKE UP. Tonight, the Australian pop-punk band took home the EMA for Artist On The Rise, and they are beyond stoked.
The guys took to Instagram to post a video thanking the 5SOS Fam for voting them to victory in the US-voted social category.
And one helpful Vine user also captured their acceptance speech:
Plus of course Ashton made his own "thank you" video for fans–he's just thoughtful like that.
5SOS faced some serious competition from a host of up-and-coming stars, but no one gave them a run for their money like Fifth Harmony. But in the end it came down to a narrow margin of just a few million votes that made the difference.
You'll remember that the boys also took home the VMA for the socially-voted Best Lyric Video -- proving that their fans are more than willing to get these guys to the top. Now that they've won, #congrats5SOS became a Twitter trending topic—they're fans are on it.
Their band's self-titled album came out this summer, and the quartet is also just off the release of the reform-school crashing video for their new single "Good Girls." It'll be on their new EP of the same name, Good Girls which is out on November 17.
Need a refresher for why these guys are the ones to keep an eye out for? Then just take a gander at the video below—the only thing better than their rebellious streak is their harmonies.
