Kendrick Lamar's latest single, "i," is a celebration of life and self. And the new video for the track is a perfect match.
On Tuesday (November 4), the TDE rapper dropped the video for the Rahki-produced song, where he dances his way through the nearly five-minute clip. And, fitting perfectly with the single's theme of self-love, he dances like nobody's watching (even though we all are).
Things kick off at a party with a bit of an old school feel, before K. Dot heads out and takes on the night. On his way, he encounters a variety of scenes, from a young man being arrested to a different young man in his home about to take his own life before putting down the gun, to attend a dance party in the streets.
Oh, and Ronald Isley, who's sampled on the song, also shows up.
Plus, Kendrick does his best impression of The Joker in "The Dark Knight" with his head hanging out of the window of a car while looking possessed.
Overall, though, the Alexandre Moors and The Little Homies-directed video is a feel good affair filled with positive vibes. That's no surprise, considering what the 27-year-old has said about his responsibility as an artist recently.
“What are you gonna be about? What are you saying?” he said on Hot 97 earlier this week. “The opportunity you have to talk to people, are you gonna take it for granted? And take the easy way out?”
"It ain’t all entertainment at the end of the day…You affecting somebody.”
