'Terminator' Reboot Will Completely Change A Classic Character's Origin

Kyle Reese smells something gross.

Ever since we found out the cast for "Terminator: Genisys," the question has been "What the hell is going on here?" In the reboot, Sarah Connor (Emilie Clarke) is younger than her son John (Jason Clarke). So what gives?

The latest issue of Entertainment Weekly, which also features the first photos of the cast in costume, has the answer.

According to the story, the Sarah Connor of "Genisys" has been raised by a T-800 (Arnold Schwarzenegger) since she was nine. The robotic paternal figure, who she calls "Pops," has brought up Sarah to be a warrior and sniper rifle-wielding badass.

But, of course, being raised by a machine, she's not really in touch with the more human stuff, like feelings.

On the covers, you can get your first look at the new version of Sarah, John, and Kyle Reese (Jai Courtney making a weird face). Plus, the Eleventh Doctor is there with a new haircut and a gun.

"Terminator: Genisys" opens in theaters on July 1.
