MTV's Musical March Madness: Tokio Hotel Want To Be Top Dogs Once Again

They're out to take back the #MMM title in 2014, with some help from their pal Pumba.

In the five-year history of MTV's Musical March Madness tournament, no band has dominated quite like Tokio Hotel, the German rockers who have ridden the support of their fanatical "Aliens" to a trio of Final Four appearances and the [article id="1682440"]2012 championship[/article].

It's a pretty impressive résumé, especially considering TH hasn't released an album [article id="1622317"]since 2009,[/article] though, in a move that has come to live in MMM infamy, they aimed to change that last year, declaring they'd put out their long-in-the-works new album if they [article id="1703661"]repeated as champs.

Of course, as any Alien will tell you, things didn't really work out that way[/article], as TH were bounced from the tournament by [article id="1705517"]eventual champion Ed Sheeran,[/article] in a tightly-contested battle that may very well go down as the greatest matchup in MMM history.

And don't think Tokio Hotel haven't spent the past year stewing over that defeat ... because in a brand-new MMM video sent exclusively to MTV News, they let it be known that they plan on winning it all once again. And this time, they're not just relying on their fans to carry them to victory; no, they've got Power Ranger Power, too. Oh, and one very fierce puppy named Pumba.

"We want to win again ... and Pumba the Ranger wants to win too. If we don't he's going to be really upset and he's probably going to bite you all," frontman Bill Kaulitz said. "This year's going to be so exciting for us, we're releasing our new album, and we want to win this award too, because it will make the year even better."

Of course, with [article id="1724017"]Sheeran retiring from the 2014 tournament[/article], Tokio Hotel's path to the championship appears to be an easy one (though we wouldn't count [article id="1723952"]Fall Out Boy[/article] or [article id="1723876"]Imagine Dragons[/article] just yet). In fact, TH's toughest challenge might just be qualifying for the tournament.

But that's where you come in.

Because this year, for the first time, we're letting fans pick all the bands for MMM 2014: You can tweet your picks @MTVNews using the hashtag #MMM.
