Shailene Woodley, Theo James Bring 'Divergent' To 'Jimmy Kimmel Live'

The erstwhile Tris and Four zip-lined onto the 'Jimmy Kimmel' stage to premiere the new 'Divergent' trailer.

Last night, actors Shailene Woodley and Theo James zip-lined their way onto "Jimmy Kimmel Live" -- as in, they literally zip-lined onto the show, one of the grandest publicity stunts this side of Hugh Jackman.

The pair graced the late-night talk-show to promote the impending arrival of "Divergent," and to show off a new trailer, which will be posted online later today (February 4). Following the zip-line entrance, Woodley and James sprinted a good distance to appear on the "Jimmy Kimmel Live" stage. Asked if zip-lining was involved at all in the making of "Divergent," Woodley dead-panned, "This is just something we do in real-life. Traffic is insane!"

Woodley is used to extreme activities, as Kimmel repeatedly asked her about her interest in sourcing and foraging for her own spring water. Kimmel also asked about James' past endeavors, specifically his short-lived appearance on "Downton Abbey" as Turkish diplomat Kemal Pamuk; the character died in season one, shortly after having sex with Lady Mary.

"Can you imagine dying, mid- ... you know," James joked, making some obscene hand gestures we don't feel the need to describe. Kimmel said he's likely to meet a similar end, albeit "alone." (Again, your imagination can do the legwork here.)

Focusing on the film, Kimmel compared "Divergent" to the "intense fame and scrutiny" associated with films like "The Hunger Games" and "Twilight" franchises. James joked that he and Woodley have been preparing themselves with new morning regiments designed to see how fast they can hide their faces behind masks. Kidding aside, James said the fame associated with the massively popular young adult franchise was very much on his mind when signing onto "Divergent."

"We both talked about it. It's a thing you need to think about, to contemplate how it's going to change your career and your life," he said. "At the same time, you don't know what anything is going to be. You can't predict the future."

"The lack of anonymity is the most daunting factor," agreed Woodley, "but you never know what will happen."

In "Divergent," Woodley plays Tris, a young woman who learns that she doesn't fit neatly into society's predetermined class system. The discovery leads Tris onto the path of a greater and deadlier conspiracy than she could have ever imagined. Woodley and James are joined by prominent co-stars including Kate Winslet, Ashley Judd and Miles Teller.

"Divergent" opens in theaters on March 21.
