"I want to kiss him. I want to kiss him so bad. I don't care if it's mutual or not."
That's what the happily married (and totally straight) Blake Shelton told MTV News last year when we asked him about the bromance between him and the hot man who sits to his right on "The Voice."
"He's sexy, is the word I'm using."
It had been rumored for the past few days that Levine was going to be bestowed that beautiful honor, but nothing was confirmed until Tuesday night (November 19), when "The Voice" host Carson Daly held up a hard copy of Levine's People cover.
"Your name has come up recently. Is he the guy? Are you the man?" Daly said as Levine blushed. "And I have it on good authority to announce... that you are People magazine's Sexiest Man Alive."
Levine takes the crown from 2012's Sexiest Man, Channing Tatum. Previous honorees include such hotties as Ryan Reynolds, George Clooney, Jude Law and Johnny Depp.
"Thor 2" star (and apparently, freelance Olympic trainer) Idris Elba comes in at #2 on this year's list, followed by country star Luke Bryan. The rest of the list includes such musical heavyweights as Bruno Mars (#5), Justin Timberlake (#7) and Pharrell Williams (#9).
Noticeably absent, however, was Shelton. And like any man left in the shadows of a hulking sex symbol, he wasn't pleased.
"See why I drink so much now?" Shelton said Tuesday night. "This is why I drink so much. He stole my thunder."
