One Direction's '1D Day' Gets Even Bigger With 'Doctor Who' Party

The guys will celebrate the 50th anniversary of 'Doctor Who' the same day they release Midnight Memories.

When worlds collide! The same day that One Direction celebrate their big Midnight Memories release, they'll also party with the cast of Dr. Who to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the British series.

That's right: On November 23, the same day that Zayn Malik, Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan celebrate 1D Day with a seven-hour live stream, they'll also make an appearance on the "The Day of the Doctor" anniversary special.

"Heard the news?! The guys will linking up with the @bbcdoctorwho 50th anniversary show after party during the stream!" the band shared on their official Twitter account on Friday (November 15).

But for those Directioners who don't know much about the science fiction series and have no idea what a Time Lord is, don't worry: Each episode is "new-viewer-friendly." And despite what you may think, there's some things the worlds of "Doctor Who" and 1D have in common: that of the iconic police booths and phone booths common to London. The Doctor travels around in his TARDIS, aka police booth. 1D, meanwhile, joked around in their phone booth on the cover of their 2012 album Take Me Home.

The Day of the Doctor," the "Doctor Who" 50th anniversary special, airs worldwide (on BBC America in the United States) on November 23.
