On Thursday, his spokesperson announced that due to the injuries he sustained, the "I Don't Want to Be" singer has been ordered by doctors to take some additional time to recover and has canceled a string of upcoming dates with Maroon 5 and Train.

The affected gigs are: Bethlehem, Pennsylvania (August 14); Hershey, Pennsylvania (August 15); Nashville, Tennessee (August 17); Indianapolis (August 18); Des Moines, Iowa (August 19); Chicago (August 20); Clarkston, Michigan (August 21); and Toronto (August 22). He is currently slated to rejoin the tour on August 24 in Columbia, Maryland.

DeGraw also bowed out of a planned appearance on "Live With Regis and Kelly" this week to promote his upcoming album, Sweeter, and canceled a live stream event with fans on Wednesday night.

"Hi my friends," he tweeted to his more than 60,000 followers on Tuesday. "Honestly, I don't remember much. I only know I can recover from here. Thank u all for your genuine concern. I love u guys."

Police are still investigating the attack on the 34-year-old singer and at press time had not announced any arrests.

DeGraw was reportedly set upon by three male attackers after leaving a New York club he co-owns with his brother and, after stumbling from the scene of the beating, fell on a stopped cab 13 blocks away. He was not seriously injured by the cab, which reportedly sped away before a bystander called 911.

Brother Joey DeGraw told the New York Post that Gavin was not drunk when he was attacked and "had nothing but cranberry juice to drink" that night.
