Who Is MTV Movie Awards Host Aziz Ansari? Zac Efron, Diddy Weigh In

Kristen Bell also sheds some light on the funnyman, who takes the Movie Awards stage Sunday, June 6, at 9 p.m. ET/PT on MTV.

He's been a "Human Giant," he's been bombastic comedian Raaaaaaaandy, he's been the scene-stealer on NBC's "Parks & Recreation" — but just who is Aziz Ansari, this year's MTV Movie Awards host?

Just ask Zac Efron, Diddy or Kristen Bell.

"Aziz was born in the snowy mountains of the Himalayas," Bell tells us in a new Movie Awards promo. "He used to put on his dark-blue overalls and just go sit in the snow."

OK, well, that doesn't exactly jibe with Ansari's known biography, but who are we to question the sweet-faced actress?

Let's see what Diddy has to say ...

"One time, young Aziz got stuck under a TV," the rapper explains. "He was trapped under there for six years. Six years."

Hmmm. Ansari seems to have recovered well. Just in 2010 alone, he's launched his own Comedy Central special, continued to induce giggles as low-level bureaucrat Tom Haverford on "Parks & Rec" and attacked Justin Bieber in a Funny or Die sketch in which he accused the teen star of stealing the song that became "Baby." And, oh, yeah — he was selected to host the 19th annual Movie Awards.

"I'm just so excited," he told us about getting the gig. "I have a movie coming out this summer called 'Sex and the City 2.' I play Samantha. This is a huge opportunity for me to get the word out. There was a lot of nervousness about, 'Well, is Aziz going to do as good a job as Kim Cattrall?' Well, would Kim Cattrall get the job of hosting the MTV Movie Awards? Probably not. So I think there's a win there."

Now we're more confused than ever. Mr. Zac Efron, clear up the confusion for us before the show airs live Sunday, June 6, at 9 p.m. ET/PT.

"There was this Halloween once," Efron says. "Someone needed to step up and dress like a pumpkin, but no one wanted to do it except Aziz. He saved a lot of lives that day. And that's why I'm glad he's hosting the MTV Movie Awards."
