'Twilight,' 'Slumdog Millionaire' Lead MTV Movie Awards Nominees

Voting now open for winners in all categories, including new Best WTF Moment prize.

This year, for the first time ever, we entrusted you with the task of selecting the [url id="/ontv/movieawards/2009/"]MTV Movie Awards[/url] nominees, and like the pop-culture superfans we knew you were, you did not disappoint! Now, we're pleased to reveal your list of who will vie for the coveted trophies on May 31.

[movie id="369195"]"Twilight"[/movie] took the lead with seven nominations, including nods for Best Movie, Best Female Performance ([movieperson id="262629"]Kristen Stewart[/movieperson]) and Breakthrough Performance Male ([movieperson id="365131"]Robert Pattinson[/movieperson] and [movieperson id="373803"]Taylor Lautner[/movieperson]). [movie id="364450"]"Slumdog Millionaire"[/movie] garnered six nominations, including Best Movie, Breakthrough Performance Female ([movieperson id="1056345"]Freida Pinto[/movieperson]) and Breakthrough Performance Male ([movieperson id="979740"]Dev Patel[/movieperson]).

Starting Monday (May 4), you'll be able to vote for a winner in every category at the MTV Movies Awards site.

Joining "Twilight" and "Slumdog" in the Best Movie category are [movie id="306605"]"The Dark Knight,"[/movie] [movie id="338328"]"High School Musical 3: Senior Year"[/movie] and [movie id="302714"]"Iron Man."[/movie]

In addition to the "Twilight" and "Slumdog" boys, the Breakthrough Performance Male category consists of [movieperson id="471602"]Ben Barnes[/movieperson] ([movie id="291891"]"The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian"[/movie]) and [movieperson id="351601"]Bobb'e J. Thompson[/movieperson] ([movie id="393416"]"Role Models"[/movie]). Other Breakthrough Performance Female selections are [movieperson id="418328"]Ashley Tisdale[/movieperson] ("HSM 3"), [movieperson id="318323"]Vanessa Hudgens[/movieperson] ("HSM 3") and [movieperson id="441942"]Miley Cyrus[/movieperson] ([movie id="381910"]"Hannah Montana: The Movie"[/movie]).

Other Best Female Performance nominees include [movieperson id="257378"]Anne Hathaway[/movieperson] ([movie id="375681"]"Bride Wars"[/movie]), [movieperson id="31834"]Angelina Jolie[/movieperson] ([movie id="338790"]"Wanted"[/movie]) and [movieperson id="166088"]Kate Winslet[/movieperson] ([movie id="362766"]"The Reader"[/movie]), while other Best Male Performance nods went to [movieperson id="438080"]Zac Efron[/movieperson] ("HSM3"), [movieperson id="313344"]Shia LaBeouf[/movieperson] ([movie id="356044"]"Eagle Eye"[/movie]) and [movieperson id="17609"]Robert Downey, Jr.[/movieperson] ([movie id="339067"]"Tropic Thunder"[/movie]).

MTV will also introduce two brand-new categories at this year's show. Best Song From a Movie nominees include tracks from "Hannah Montana" ([artist id="2408193"]Cyrus[/artist]) and [movie id="371022"]"The Wrestler"[/movie] ([artist id="975"]Bruce Springsteen[/artist]). Best WTF Moment selections honor such outrageous scenes as [movieperson id="99943"]Ben Stiller[/movieperson] tasting a decapitated head ("Tropic Thunder") and [movieperson id="238943"]Amy Poehler[/movieperson] peeing in a sink ("[movie id="324620"]"Baby Mama"[/movie]").

Battling it out for Best Fight will be folks like [movieperson id="3146"]Christian Bale[/movieperson] and [movieperson id="233661"]Heath Ledger[/movieperson] ("The Dark Knight") and [movieperson id="262582"]Seth Rogen[/movieperson], [movieperson id="264077"]James Franco[/movieperson] and [movieperson id="314365"]Danny McBride[/movieperson] ([movie id="330674"]"Pineapple Express"[/movie]).

The Best Kiss category will see another showdown between "Twilight" (Stewart and Pattinson) and "Slumdog" (Pinto and Patel), with other lip-locking nominees including Franco and Sean Penn ([movie id="374161"]"Milk"[/movie]), and Paul Rudd and Thomas Lennon ([movie id="375342"]"I Love You, Man"[/movie]).

"Saturday Night Live" funnyman Andy Samberg will host the 18th annual MTV Movie Awards live at 9 p.m. ET on May 31 from the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, California.
