Thought it was out of character for Good Charlotte to work with Hilary Duff on new material for her album Most Wanted? Well, the Madden brothers are about to begin work on another unexpected collabo -- this time, they're teaming with Miami hip-hop producers Marcello "Cool" Valenzano and Andre "Dre" Lyon, better known for their work with Fat Joe, Ja Rule and 50 Cent. Cool & Dre are also lining up work with Shakira and Trina, according to the producers' rep. ...

Destiny's Child will make their last televised appearance as a group at the second annual Fashion Rocks concert September 9 at New York's Radio City Music Hall. The show, which will kick off New York's Fall Fashion Week and air live on CBS, will also feature Alicia Keys, Nelly, Gwen Stefani, Shakira, Rob Thomas, David Bowie, Duran Duran, Billy Idol, Tim McGraw, Joss Stone and the Arcade Fire. ... With 50 Cent battling so many of New York's MCs, chances of him bringing out surprise guests for his Big Apple Anger Management show Monday night at Madison Square Garden seemed slim to none. However, Fif pulled it off. During the G-Unit's set, Young Buck brought out Mase and Busta Rhymes. ...

Paul Wall's The People's Champ, due August 23, will feature collaborations with T.I., Bun B, B.G., Lil' Wayne, Freeway and Big Pokey, who is featured on the first single, "Sittin' Sideways." "We've been putting in a lot of hard work and the work ain't gonna stop," Wall said of the sudden emergence of Houston as a hip-hop hot spot. "We on the grind trying to make it happen and we look forward to bigger and better years to come." ... Fat Joe has selected "Listen Baby," his duet with Mashonda, as the next single from All or Nothing. ...

Foo Fighters and Weezer have just added four more dates to their co-headlining tour, with Kaiser Chiefs opening all four. The newly announced dates are September 27 in San Diego, September 28 in Phoenix, October 2 in Minneapolis and October 3 in Chicago. ... Contrary to a report run in this column on Monday, Christina Aguilera is not named in her songwriter Matt Morris' recently filed lawsuit to receive payment for the work he did on her album Stripped; he is seeking damages from his publishing company. ...

Radiohead, Bloc Party, Gorillaz, Razorlight and the Coral have all signed on to contribute tracks to Help: A Day in the Life, a compilation disc to benefit War Child, a nonprofit that helps children affected by war. According to the organization's Web site, all of the bands will record a single song in a single day, much like 1995's War Child Help album, which raised more than $1.5 million for children distressed by the Bosnian conflict. The album will be available for download starting September 9. ... A coalition of musicians has banded together under the name Operation Ceasefire to organize a free music festival as part of a four-day anti-Iraq-war protest in Washington, D.C. The concert, to be held at the Washington Monument on September 24, will feature sets by Thievery Corporation, Le Tigre, Bouncing Souls, Steve Earle, the Coup, Head-Roc, Ted Leo & the Pharmacists and Wayne Kramer with the Bellrays. Ex-Dead Kennedys singer Jello Biafra will host the event. ...

Gucci Mane will follow up his breakthrough single, "Icy," with "That's All," according to the rapper. ... Frankie J is planning to re-release The One this fall; the new version of the LP will include his latest single, a cover of Extreme's "More Than Words." ... Miri Ben-Ari, Kanye West's violinist, will release her major-label debut on August 23. The Hip-Hop Violinist features Styles P on the first single, "We're Gonna Win," as well as West, Twista, Mya, Anthony Hamilton, Scarface, Musiq, Fabolous and more. "It's like a Santana project, but it's street vibe meeting classical music," Ben-Ari said. ...

Lil' Mo will release her Cash Money Records debut, Syndicated (The Lil' Mo Hour), on Tuesday, according to the singer. Tracks include "Hot Girls" with Lil' Wayne, "Dem Boys" and "Motha of Your Child." "It's just like telling people to respect your baby mama, don't be tryin' to dis her or nothin'," Mo said of the latter. "I just had a baby and that postpartum and dealing with the C-section, that's not a game." ... The album art for Disturbed's third LP, Ten Thousand Fists, will be unveiled next week on Spawn.com, which wouldn't make any sense at all unless Todd McFarlane had something to do with it, right? Well, it turns out the comic-book illustrator and artist Greg Capullo worked together on the album's cover. For the LP, frontman David Draiman wanted to revive an icon from the band's first record: the demonic smiley face they've dubbed "the guy." "We wanted to have a three-dimensional embodiment of 'the guy' leading an army into battle, so to speak," Draiman said. "You see 'the guy' as a central image, and he's surrounded by thousands of people. They all have their fists raised in unison, tattered clothes, determined faces, some spots of blood here and there, as if they'd just come in from battle." Ten Thousand Fists hits stores September 20. ...

New York's Snitch, a favorite haunt of Marilyn Manson, Dave Navarro, Sum 41 and Metallica, as well as the hot spot's celebrity owners, Velvet Revolver's Scott Weiland and Duff McKagan and Fuel's Brett Scallions, could be getting the reality-television treatment. Executive producer Charlie Corwin is currently shopping the idea, and said a handful of channels have expressed strong interest in adding the series to their lineups. The series, he said, will focus on the rock club's employees and ownership, both inside and outside of Snitch. Each episode will feature an impromptu musical performance from a top rock act, he promised. ... Gavin Rossdale's new band Institute's first single, "Bullet-Proof Skin," is on the "Stealth" soundtrack, so the video for the song has a need for speed -- but it's cars, not jets, that provide it. The clip was shot at the end of July at the Sepulveda Dam in Los Angeles with director Kevin Kerslake, and yes, Rossdale is behind the wheel, according to the band's label rep. ...

Destiny's Child invited a few special guests backstage at their show Friday night in Philadelphia -- families and kids staying at the Philadelphia, Southern New Jersey and Delaware Ronald McDonald Houses. The ladies gave them a special backstage reception prior to their performance. "Music may be our passion, but the life we lead off the stage and our love for kids is really important to us as well," Beyoncé said. ...

50 Cent is taking his story to the streets, and doing what all good authors do to help pump book sales -- he's pressing the flesh and signing copies for his adoring fans. 50 will set up shop at the Virgin Megastore in New York's Union Square Tuesday at 11 a.m. and sign copies for the first 300 fans who purchase their copies of "From Pieces to Weight: Once Upon a Time in Southside Queens" at the store. Those interested in coming out can start lining up at 9 a.m. ... Apparently viewers can't get enough of Bobby and Whitney shopping for Preparation H, eating lobster and dry-humping in public. Bravo has announced that it is adding an extra two episodes of "Being Bobby Brown," the chronicle of life with the R&B singer and wife Whitney Houston that was originally slated to run eight episodes. The new shows will take viewers inside the stars' homes in Atlanta and New Jersey, with the clip-show finale airing August 25. ...

More bad news for Glassjaw fans: The band's been forced to cancel its upcoming tour with the Used and 30 Seconds to Mars due to singer Daryl Palumbo's recent Crohn's Disease relapse. Head Automatica, Palumbo's other band, were forced to cancel their most recent spate of tour dates last month. Glassjaw guitarist Justin Beck posted the announcement on the band's Web site: "This is a serious condition that affects us as a band and most importantly, Daryl as a person," the message reads. "He's more than a musical act, and for this reason I ask only for understanding. Glassjaw is still a band. The truth of the matter is that it's simply health and timing." ... Madonna has set a November 15 release date for her next album, Confessions on a Dancefloor. The first single, "Hung Up," will hit radio outlets on October 17. ...

P. Diddy -- who now just wants to be called "Diddy" -- knows by now that names and words have power. After all, he's being sued in Chicago federal court over the marketing slogan for his Sean John clothing line: "It's not just a label, it's a lifestyle." Gregory Hilderbrand of Illinois is claiming patent infringement, unfair competition, defective trade practices, and consumer fraud, because he patented the phrase "It's a lifestyle" three years ago for his clothing line. Hilderbrand says the two slogans are causing marketplace confusion and making his clothing line seem like a Sean John knockoff. He's asking that Diddy stop using the phrase, or anything similar to it, and is seeking to recover lost profits as well as punitive damages and attorney's fees. ...

Grammy-winning Buena Vista Social Club member Ibrahim Ferrer died on Saturday at age 78. The Cuban singing star of the 1940s and '50s was retired and living on a pension and shining shoes for extra money when American guitarist Ry Cooder drafted him to join the Buena Vista project in the late 1990s. The soft-spoken Ferrer, known for singing in the traditional "son" style, became one of the break-out stars of the project, touring the world and releasing several solo albums. ... The impact of Bruce Springsteen's music on American pop culture will be the subject of a three-day symposium kicking off September 9 at Monmouth University in West Long Branch, New Jersey. This conference, launched in conjunction with Penn State, will include an eclectic mix of keynote speakers, special events and a host of sessions that will take a look at the Boss' legacy and influence. Topics include "Bruce Springsteen and the Creation of Community," "A Walk Down E Street" and "Bruce Springsteen and the Vietnam Veterans Movement." ...

Ryan Cabrera, who's getting ready to release his second album, just shot the video for his first single, "Shine On," with director Kevin Kerslake. The summertime-themed clip will feature the singer driving down a highway en route to a party. ... Veteran reggae artist Sizzla has signed to the Damon Dash Music Group, which will release his next album in early 2006. Sizzla launches a U.S. tour August 18. ... "Walking in Memphis" singer Marc Cohn was shot in the head by an unsuccessful carjacker Sunday night after a show in Denver, Reuters reports. A bullet struck the Grammy winner in the head but reportedly did not penetrate his skull. The shooter was fleeing police on foot when he attempted to steal the van Cohn was riding in. Cohn had surgery to remove the bullet and was released. ...

Pixies drummer David Lovering is turning his focus back to his first love: the art of prestidigitation (or "magic" for those not in the top-hat-and-rabbit circuit). On Thursday, Lovering will perform with former Possum Dixon frontman Rob Zabrecky and a mysterious third party named Fitzgerald as "The Unholy Three" at Los Angeles' Steve Allen Theatre to celebrate the release of the trio's DVD, "The Unholy Three Live at the Magic Castle," due out next month. ... Want your car to sound like the General Lee from "The Dukes of Hazzard"? Well, they haven't yet figured out a way to download the horn's distinctive sound to your car, but you can make your phone ring just like it.
