Jadakiss Can Avoid Gun And Drug Charges If He Behaves

Rapper ordered to pay fine, destroy guns, honor probation to have charges dropped.

As long as he keeps his nose clean for the next three months, Jadakiss will have gun and marijuana possession charges in Fayetteville, North Carolina, dropped. Under a plea agreement reached Thursday, a judge gave Jada (whose real name is Jason T. Phillips) deferred prosecution on the misdemeanor charges and ordered him to pay a $900 fine, but did not give him any jail time, according to an Associated Press report.

The 29-year-old rapper was charged last July while in town for a show when an off-duty cop stopped the rapper's car after spotting someone tossing firecrackers out of a window (see "Jadakiss Busted For Celebrating Fourth Of July With A Bang"). During a search, less than an ounce of pot and two loaded handguns were found. He is due back in court on June 14, and as long as he doesn't violate his probation, the charges will be dropped.

The terms of the probation call for him to destroy the guns and submit to drug testing.
