Indie-movie staple Parker Posey, best known for singing folk songs in "A Mighty Wind" or dressing up as Jackie Onassis in "The House of Yes," will continue her recent mainstream makeover with the upcoming blockbuster "Superman Returns."
Posey has been cast as Kitty Kozlowski, the venomous female companion of chrome-domed mastermind Lex Luthor (Kevin Spacey), according to Warner Bros. The news follows closely on the heels of Posey's recent performance as a female fiend in another comic book adaptation, December's "Blade: Trinity."
Posey and Spacey will be teaming up with Kal Penn ("Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle") to do battle against fresh-faced Brandon Routh as Superman and Kate Bosworth ("Blue Crush") as precocious but easily fooled reporter Lois Lane. Currently in production, the Bryan Singer-directed film is expected to fly into theaters in the summer of 2006.
