Attention, Aspiring British Rappers: Nas Wants You

U.K. contest winner will get guest appearance on his new LP.

Nas got his big break making a guest appearance on a classic hip-hop album -- and he's hoping to give one lucky British rapper the opportunity to do the same. The Queensbridge MC is sponsoring a contest in the United Kingdom that will award the winner with a guest appearance on Nas' upcoming album, Streets Disciple.

The contest is being administered via the U.K branch of Nas' record company, Sony Music. According to their Web site, aspiring rappers are being asked to download an instrumental version of his current single, "Thief's Theme," and create their own vocal track. Nas will judge the best verse and invite the winner to record it on a different song from his new album. Entrants have until July 31 to submit their track.

The competition is open only to residents of the U.K. and Ireland.

Thus far, the song featuring the winner will only be included on the U.K. version of Streets Disciple. However, Nas' spokesperson in America said there is a possibility the song could be released in the States.

After considerable tinkering with the configuration of his album, Nas has settled on having Streets Disciple as a double-album with 10 songs on each disc. It will be released on September 28.

Nas began his recording career with a cameo on the song, "Live at the BBQ," from the 1991 album, Breaking Atoms, by Main Source.
