Mike Myers, who lends his over-the-top comedic chops to this month's "The Cat in the Hat," is interested in starring in a biopic about the similarly frenetic Keith Moon, the legendary late drummer for the Who known as much for his voracious partying as his seemingly boundless energy behind the kit. "They just have to write it," he said recently. ... Myers' "Cat" co-star Kelly Preston has already finished shooting the black comedy "Eulogy," which includes Famke Janssen ("X2"), Hank Azaria ("The Simpsons") and Ray Romano in its cast. ... Commercials director Noam Murro will direct "The Ring 2," not Gore Verbinski, who helmed the original, an Americanized version of the Japanese hit "Ringu." ...

Will Ferrell has signed on for a project in which he'll play a man who coaches his son's soccer team against a team coached by his highly competitive father and featuring his father's new son. The still-untitled comedy will start shooting in January, before Ferrell is due on the set of Nora Ephron's "Bewitched." ... Production has halted on "Ghosts of Girlfriends Past," which was to star Ben Affleck as a bachelor visited by ghosts of past girlfriends at his younger brother's wedding. Affleck, who'll next star in "Paycheck," due this Christmas, has instead signed on to portray former Texas Western basketball coach Don Haskins in "Glory Road," a movie about the 1966 NCAA championship in which Haskins broke the color barrier by playing five black starters against the all-white Kentucky Wildcats. Antoine Fuqua ("Training Day") will direct. ...

Keanu Reeves has been spending his free time hitting the funny books. "I did some reading [to] just really prepare myself for the character," the "Matrix" star said recently, regarding his lead role as the Hellblazer in the comic book flick "Constantine," which is shooting in Los Angeles. "We've been filming for about a month. Francis Lawrence is directing it, and he's fantastic." ... Reeves isn't the only "Matrix" trilogy star busy with new projects. Nicolas Cage will play Billy "The Kid" Roth -- a former champion fighter who has volunteered his time to teach boxing to Louisiana prison inmates for 44 years -- in a movie his production company is developing with the filmmakers behind a recent Roth documentary. "Billy Roth's story truly spoke to my heart," Cage said in a statement. "Despite the darkness and intense despair, an unlikely and flawed character is able to find and provide hope to others." Cage will shoot the movie after wrapping "Ghost Rider" in the spring. ... Cedric the Entertainer is in talks to star as an amnesiac janitor in "Traces," a movie he's already producing. The action comedy is about a custodian who wakes up from a car accident without his memory and races to identify himself and the people after him. ... Orlando Bloom will star in and co-produce the crime drama "Haven," about two businessmen (Bill Paxton and Gabriel Byrne) who flee to the Cayman Islands to avoid federal prosecution. ...

Johnny Depp will reprise his role as Hunter S. Thompson in a movie based on the author's "The Rum Diary." Benicio Del Toro will make his directing debut, and Josh Hartnett and Nick Nolte will co-star when shooting starts in December, Thompson told the Associated Press. ... Kelly Hu ("X2") has joined the cast of the Nick Cannon comedy "Underclassman," playing a police friend to Cannon's young detective who goes undercover at an elite private school. Jonathan Tucker's "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" character might be dead, but Tucker's career is certainly alive. Next year he'll appear in "Stateside" with Val Kilmer and Rachael Leigh Cook as well as the George Clooney/Steven Soderbergh-produced "Criminal," which are in the can, and now he's in Montana shooting the indie flick "Love Comes to the Executioner." ... Patricia Clarkson, seen most recently as Katie Holmes' terminally ill mother in "Pieces of April," would like to clear something up: she's making a film called "The Woods," but it's not the M. Night Shyamalan production that's going by the same name. "It's a really cool kind of horror movie thriller," she said of her project, which also features "Evil Dead" trilogy star Bruce Campbell. "It's being directed by Lucky McKee, he's 27, this is his second movie, [and] he rocks. I play the headmistress of an all-girls school in the 1960s." ...
