Pharrell Goes In Search Of A Beautiful Girl, Adds Stars To Clones

Williams stars in direct-to-DVD film 'Dude, We're Going to Rio.'

The Neptunes' stuttering, digital funk can be heard all over the airwaves. Pharrell Williams is just as ubiquitous in magazines and music videos. And now, the Neptunes will be popping up in your DVD player.

The producing tandem is nearly finished with an hour-long, straight-to-DVD movie titled "Dude, We're Going to Rio." The flick, which was shot in Rio de Janeiro, Los Angeles and New York, will be released on October 14 through Star Trak/Fox Studios.

"I don't want to bore people. I want to provide different experiences," Pharrell said last week. "If I just put out records all the time, it'd be boring. This is a fun movie, just a few days of our lives, man."

What sounds like an excuse to go back to tropical Rio de Janeiro -- where Pharrell and Snoop Dogg shot the video for Snoop's hit "Beautiful" -- probably is just that (see [article id="1459626"]"Snoop Shoots 'Beautiful' Video In Rio, Makes TV Plans"[/article]). In the flick, Williams is cruising around the streets of Los Angeles when he spots a Brazilian travel poster. He falls in love with the dripping wet photo of an anonymous bronze beauty and flies down to Rio to search for the Brazilian hottie and everlasting love. The movie's tagline? "4 Friends. 3 Flight Attendants. 2 Tour Guides. 1 Beautiful Girl."

Williams conceived the film and co-wrote it with its director, C.B. Harding, who is best known for work on the reality series "The Osbournes." Pharrell's partner, Chad Hugo, makes a cameo in the movie, as does Busta Rhymes, who is involved in a scandalous fantasy sequence that involves a cell phone and a sexy stewardess.

So, does Williams succeed on his pursuit of love?

"You'll have to find out," he said, not wanting to spoil the plot. "Sometimes you just don't know. Sometimes you just have to strive to survive. At the end of your life you want to say, 'God, I did all I can do for you.' "

Meanwhile, the Neptunes are still tweaking Star Trak Presents ... Clones, due in stores August 19. The compilation features new tracks Pharrell and partner Chad Hugo produced with past and present collaborators (see [article id="1472203"]"Summer Music Preview: Neptunes' Star Trak Presents: Clones"[/article]).

The album still features songs by Kelis, Nas, Noreaga, Ol' Dirty Bastard, the Clipse, N.E.R.D and Spymob, but the Neptunes recently added three new tracks to considerably increase the compilation's star quotient: "If," by Nelly, "It Wasn't Us," by Ludacris and "It Blows My Mind," by Snoop Dogg.
