The Deftones had to drop off the bill for Sunday's Summer Sanitarium show at the Metrodome in Minneapolis due to a groin pull suffered by singer Chino Moreno at a Saturday show in Chicago. Doctors have ordered Moreno to rest for a few days so that he can return to the stage on Friday when the Summer Sanitarium Tour hits Invesco Field in Denver, according to a Maverick Records spokesperson.
The group was able to perform at Saturday's show at the Hawthorne Racetrack in Chicago, but Moreno realized the extent of the injury on Sunday and the band was forced to pull out of the Minneapolis show. A pair of club dates in Rapid City, South Dakota, at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center on Tuesday (July 29) and the Shrine Auditorium in Billings, Montana, on Wednesday were scheduled to take place, but were canceled mid-day Tuesday when Moreno realized he could not perform, the spokesperson said. A representative of the show's promoter, Bravo Entertainment, said tentative plans call for the gigs to be rescheduled later this year.
The Sanitarium dates will be followed by a headlining tour in Europe, scheduled to run from September 17 to October 3, followed by as-yet-unannounced U.S. dates from October through the end of the year, the spokesperson said.
