'NSYNC's Joey Fatone Struggles To Make 'Rent'

Aspiring actor hits Broadway stage starting August 5.

Producers of the hit Broadway musical "Rent" have found the perfect singer and dancer to inject some freshness and excitement into their show: Joey Fatone.

That's right, the 'NSYNC showman will join the cast of the rock musical, which chronicles the lives of a group of friends in New York's East Village, starting August 5 at the Nederlander Theatre.

Fatone, who started rehearsals on Monday, will play the role of Mark Cohen, a struggling video artist whose favorite subject is the lives of his friends. He's scheduled to star in the production through December 22.

Though the move marks Fatone's first foray into theatre, acting has clearly revealed itself to be his second calling. Fatone has appeared in the movies "On the Line" and "Longshot," and he's currently featured in the comedy "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" (see [article id="1452937"]"Joey Fatone Talks About His Big Fat Movie"[/article]). He is looking forward to the release of another comedy, "Bros.," which places him in the unlikely world of hardcore rap (see [article id="1443344"]"No 'Grease' For 'NSYNC, Bass And Fatone Pursue Movies On Own"[/article]).
