Sonic Youth Reissuing LPs With Bonus Tracks, Working On New Album

Band also set to release three titles on DVD, project with avant-garde vocalist Brigitte Fontaine.

A decade after the release of their most popular album, Dirty, dissonant

art rockers Sonic Youth are reissuing the disc along with two of their

other titles as double-CDs bloated with bonus material.

Dirty, Goo (1990) and Daydream Nation (1988) will be issued before summer by Universal with all of the original tracks remastered, along with previously unheard demos, live cuts and B-sides, the band's publicist said.

Sonic Youth also plan to issue three of their video titles on DVD: "The Goo

That Lives on in My Heart" (1991), "1991: The Year Punk Broke" (1992), which chronicles the group's 1991 tour with Nirvana and features several Nirvana live performances, and "Screaming Fields of Sonic Love" (1995). All the videos will include bonus

material not on the original releases.

In addition, the group continues to work on its next record for DGC. Jim O'

Rourke is co-producing and will perform on some tracks. Tentative song

titles include "Disconnection Notice," "The Empty Page" and "Gather Yr

Pillows and Headphones and Make Love Tonite."

Finally, Sonic Youth plan to release a project they worked on in spring 2000

with French avant-garde vocalist Brigitte Fontaine and percussionist Areski.

The disc will be called SYR 6, and will come out in April on the band's own

SYR label. It will include two tracks from Fontaine's 2001 Kekeland album

(which was only released in France), remixes and outtakes from the sessions

and live excerpts from their performance together at the Pompidou Center in

Paris.
