Townshend, Aerosmith, Widespread Panic To Play Yahoo! Awards

Who founder will receive Online Pioneer Award.

Pete Townshend will receive the Online Pioneer Award and will join Aerosmith, American Hi-Fi and Widespread Panic as a performer at this year's Yahoo! Internet Life Online Music Awards, organizers said.

The Who founder's Web site (www.petetownshend.com) features frequent posts from Townshend and a detailed history of Townshend and the Who. It also includes image downloads, and audio downloads from live shows and unreleased projects. Currently available are versions of "Behind Blue Eyes" that Townshend said he found while putting together his third Scoop collection of outtakes and demos.

David Bowie won last year's Online Pioneer Award (see [article id="1426375"]"David Bowie, Prince, Aimee Mann Win Yahoo! Awards"[/article]).

Nominees for the rest of the awards will be announced later this week. Categories include artist site, fan site, download site and overall music site. The awards ceremony will be held September 20 at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York.
